Review: 100% Pure Cocoa Butter Semi-Matte Lipstick

If you are a fan of 100% Pure, you probably noticed that they recently released a line of Cocoa Butter Semi-Matte Lipsticks. With eleven shades to choose from, you will love the intense color payoff of these all-natural, super pigmented lippies!

Consistency + Finish

Similar to the buttery, nourishing formulation of 100% Pure's Fruit Pigmented Pomegranate Oil Anti Aging Lipsticks, the new semi-matte lineup is equally divine! Not only are they luxuriously creamy, but they are moisturizing without feeling heavy or greasy on the lips. As their name implies, these lipsticks are definitely semi-matte. If you are in the market for a truly matte lip, you will be disappointed by the velvety sheen of these lipsticks. However, their semi-matte finish makes them very comfortable on the lips and the added bit of moisture means that you don't have to worry about them cracking throughout the day. If you were to add some powder on top of one of 100% Pure's Fruit Pigmented Pomegranate Oil Anti Aging Lipsticks, you would be left with a look and feel that is comparable to the new semi-mattes. While they are drier than their pomegranate oil sisters, their longevity is just as amazing!

Application

Because these lipsticks are so buttery, they glide on with ease straight from their bullets! I enjoy using a lip scrub (I like this one from Treat Beauty) to polish my pout prior to applying any lip color so that my lips are smooth, plump, and good to go! I also recommend using a lip liner with all of 100% Pure's lipsticks because they do tend to bleed slightly. My favorite lip pencils are from Jane Iredale and the shade Spice goes perfectly with Pink Canyon from 100% Pure to create a beautiful, earthy, rose pink.

Wrap-Up

These lipsticks are so gorgeous and buttery! Packed with clean, nourishing ingredients, these high-quality semi-mattes are silky, moisturizing, and very comfortable to wear. The consistency of these seriously pigmented lippies is smooth and velvety, yet they feel weightless on the lips. They also last for hours! However, I have to admit that I can't quite justify having "semi-matte" lipsticks in my collection. Any lipstick can be made semi-matte by adding a touch of powder on top; therefore, true satins and true mattes hold more value to me. That doesn't diminish the fact that these lipsticks are amazing, I would just prefer a completely matte finish to accompany 100% Pure's beautiful pomegranate lineup.

Apple & Clover Whipped Shave Cream

Shaving your legs can be an arduous task, but you may change your mind after trying this whipped shave cream! Not only is the earthy, apple scent reminiscent of a apple picking in the fall, but the inclusion of hydrating oils makes this shaving cream so luxuriously indulgent and moisturizing! It's perfect for getting a close shave on those silky-smooth legs!

Pineapple Prep and Prime

This product is so unique! Composed primarily of aloe vera, this Prep and Prime's gel-like texture allows it to melt luxuriously into the skin. On the other hand, the addition of of pineapple and papaya extracts mildly exfoliate and give this product astringent properties. The soothing, yet rejuvenating properties of this blend plump my skin with moisture and provide a wonderful glow! While it acts as a perfectly balanced canvas underneath makeup, you can also use Pineapple Prep and Prime as an all-over hydration mask for a serious moisture boost!

Set on Smooth / Aloe Setting Powder

Available in both Satin and Matte, this translucent setting powder was just what Parlo needed in their portfolio! Formulated with Aloe to soothe the skin while keeping your makeup in place, this superfine powder provides a lovely, soft-focus effect. My dry skin calls for the satin version, but the matte version of this powder was specifically designed to fight off excess oil. 

Although they're not new additions to Parlo's lineup of treats, I also picked up a gorgeous, metallic red nail polish in the shade In Deep and the most stunning copper eye shadow in Lucky Penny. These autumnal, jewel-toned colors are going to be perfect for the holidays!!

Review: Holistic Green Beauty's Orchid Cellular Protection Oil

I recently raved about Holistic Green Beauty's gorgeous Chocolate Cleansing Balm (review here), but it definitely isn't the only must-have in this brand's portfolio! The Orchid Cellular Protection Oil is an ultra hydrating anti-­ageing skincare oil that enriches the skin with organic botanicals. With such dry skin, this oil is bound to be an absolute life-saver throughout the cold, winter months.

Description

This exquisite oil helps to lock in moisture, combat dehydration, and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles. This oil is thin, but has a luxuriously silky texture that really plumps and softens the skin. Unlike oils that can be a bit greasy and heavy, this product glides onto the skin and absorbs completely within five to ten minutes.

In addition to its luxurious consistency and pleasant, floral scent, this oil is made with so many amazing ingredients! With an array of antioxidants and fatty acids, this oil truly nourishes the skin at the cellular level. In particular, Orchid extract has regenerative properties and is rich in skin-loving minerals, while Chia Seed and Baobab aid in the prevention of wrinkles and restore elasticity. Calendula and Copaiba are also added for their anti-inflammatory benefits to soothe and condition the skin while enhancing its natural radiance.

Application

In the morning, I like to apply this oil in gentle, circular motions after cleansing and toning, but before moisturizing. This allows the product to absorb nicely into my skin and provide a proper canvas for any makeup that I may wear. At night, however, I massage this oil into my skin after my moisturizer to create an occlusive layer that locks in moisture and seals in everything I’ve applied beneath it. You may need to experiment to figure out the order of application that works best for you, but you'll probably want to apply it underneath your moisturizer if you have particularly oily skin.

Wrap-up

The Orchid Cellular Protection Oil is another win for Holistic Green Beauty! Much like HGB's Chocolate Cleansing Balm, this oil is such an indulgent treat for my skin! The texture is lush and silky, yet it absorbs beautifully into the skin. I find that it plumps and balances my dry skin, and plays nicely with the other products in my skincare rotation. With its potent anti-aging ingredients that nourish from the inside out, your skin will thank you for using this gorgeous oil!

Review: RMS Beauty Magic Luminizer

RMS Beauty's portfolio of gorgeous cream highlighters is perhaps the best in the business. The newest addition to the line, Magic Luminizer, is an iridescent champagne illuminator that imparts a beautiful, ethereal glow!

Finish

This coconut oil-based highlighter has the signature silky texture of all of RMS's products. Its beautiful, opalescent, champagne hue is more warm-toned than Living Luminizer (for more info, check out my post here), yet neutral enough that it looks stunning on a variety of skin tones. There is also a subtle nude pink shimmer that provides a flattering highlight that never comes off as glittery or chunky on the skin.

Application

I like to use my fingers to blend this highlighter onto the tops of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose to create a soft, diffused glow. Its silky texture allows Magic Luminizer to melt flawlessly into the skin with very little effort. RMS has also just released a Kabuki Polisher Retractable Brush if you prefer buffing this highlight onto the skin for a high-impact, lustrous sheen. If you are really looking for an allover glow, you can apply this product underneath or mixed in with your foundation for a beautiful lit-from-within radiance.

RMS Beauty has done it again! This luminizer is gorgeous! If you previously tried Living Luminizer and found that it didn't quite suit the warmer undertones of your skin, you are going to adore this new, champagne-toned option! Like all of RMS's products, Magic Luminizer has a luxurious, satiny texture and melts easily into the skin. Its neutral shimmer provides a sophisticated iridescence that will compliment so many skin tones! Try combining it with your foundation, blush, eye shadow, and lipstick for a beautiful radiance with plenty of impact! Magic Luminizer retails for $38 (4.82 g / 0.17 oz).

Moisturizer: Pai Avocado & Jojoba Hydrating Day Cream

Foundation: Jane Iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream in Shade BB3 (I am in love with this BB cream! It covers like a dream, so a little goes a long way. I like to use a buffing brush to blend a small amount over my entire face.) 

Concealer: W3ll People Bio Correct Multi-Action Concealer in Fair (I used my finger to apply this cream underneath my eyes and on the areas in need of some additional coverage.) 

Bronzer: Alima Pure Pressed Foundation with Rosehip Antioxidant Complex in Teak (This silky powder gives my pale skin such a beautiful bronze glow! I used a fluffy brush to blend this weightless powder onto my temples, around my hairline, and lightly across the bridge of my nose. I also like to subtly contour to accentuate my cheekbones.) 

Highlighter: Parlo Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Shimmy, Shimmy (This nude pink shadow is beautiful on the eyes, but is also stunning as a highlight! I used a fluffy brush to add this powder to the tops of my cheekbones.) 

Blush: Parlo Cosmetics Natural Mineral Blush in Jolene (Parlo's blushes are so beautiful and luxe! I used a small amount and a soft hand to apply this rosy pink to the apples of my cheeks.)


Eye Shadow Primer: Vapour Organic Beauty Stratus Luminous Instant Skin Perfector

Eye Shadows: I first applied Love Nugget from Parlo Cosmetics to the inner half of each of my eyes using a flat shadow brush. I then went back in with the same brush to add Ssk Boom Baa from Parlo Cosmetics to the outer half of each of my eyes. This bold amethyst color is incredible! Finally, I used a fluffy shadow brush and blended these shadows together to create a soft, diffused effect. 

Lower Lash Line: I used a pencil brush to blend a tiny bit of Love Nugget along my lower lash line to create a cohesive look.

Mascara: Lily Lolo Mascara

Lip Color: Jane Iredale's Lip Pencil in Spice with Kjaer Weis's Lipstick in Honor (I am in love with this beautiful lip combo!! I applied my favorite lip pencil first and then topped it with a stunning pale pink lipstick that pairs perfectly with the vibrant eyes!)

Not only does it act as an amazing base that evens out texture and diffuses fine lines, but it also increases the longevity of my makeup and adds a stunning luminosity. This primer is like perfect lighting in a bottle!

I have recently been applying Pai's Avocado & Jojoba Hydrating Day Cream as the first step in my routine to moisturize my skin and prep for makeup. It's my go-to moisturizer because it provides such long-lasting hydration to my dry skin.

Jane Iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream

This cream can be used as both a foundation and a concealer because the coverage builds so flawlessly! This cream is heat-resistant and water-resistant with SPF 25, which makes it perfect for my porcelain skin! I also love that while it provides full coverage, yet still has a natural finish that gives the skin a beautifully airbrushed look! I like to apply a very thin layer all over my face using a buffing brush and then go back in with my finger to tap a little extra product underneath my eyes to conceal.

I use this silky powder to create a sun-kissed glow all year round! I use a fluffy brush to blend this gorgeous bronze shade onto my temples, around my hairline, and lightly across the bridge of my nose. I also like to subtly contour to accentuate my cheekbones.

Lily Lolo Mascara

I coat my top and bottom lashes with a generous amount of this mascara. The bristle brush and thickening formula add lots of volume to my unruly lashes! If you have time, you can use a small, angled brush to line your eyes with this mascara for a extra definition.

H. Gillerman Organics Pure Breathing - Sinus Remedy

If you are prone to sinus pain, especially in the colder weather, this is the product for you! This brisk blend of eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, bay laurel, orange, niaouli, and petitgrain essential oils really helps to open the sinus passages and soothe any pain or discomfort!
