My hair is naturally quite fine, so I've always struggled with breakage. However, thinning was never a concern of mine. To be honest, it's a problem that I never imagined I would have to deal with. Well, when my 28-year-old husband, then fiancé, was diagnosed with cancer, that all changed. The stress of such a difficult situation combined with planning our wedding and continuing to work full-time literally made my hair start falling out. Month's after my husband was declared cancer free and his hair grew back thicker than ever, mine still hadn't recovered.
Finding an agreeable clean shampoo for fine, limp hair can be a difficult task. However, I stumbled across the PurePlenty Regimen from Intelligent Nutrients and knew that I had to test it out! This regimen consists of three products: Exfoliating Shampoo, Density Building Conditioner, and Nourishing Scalp and Strand Serum. While I haven't noticed a tremendous difference in fallout, my hair is stronger and thicker than it has ever been! I have been using these products in conjunction with Lani's Tropical Hair Treatment (about 2x a month) and Josh Rosebrook's Lift Spray (review here) for a day-to-day volume boost and I couldn't be happier with the condition of my locks!
Description
If you have ever had an appointment at a salon and a luxurious shampoo with a perfect lather was massaged into your scalp, you know that the same feeling is difficult to achieve at home. That's not the case with Intelligent Nutrients's PurePlenty Exfoliating Shampoo! It has a lovely, sweet scent that is earthy and quite spa-like, and the direct-to-scalp applicator makes it easy to apply evenly all over the head for a perfectly lush and foamy lather. So, what's up with the whole exfoliating thing? This shampoo contains pea sprout bioactives, ajuga reptan plant stem cells, saw palmetto, and knettle to sweep away buildup as it cleanses to open up the hair follicles for optimum growth and movement. These key ingredients also inhibit Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a testosterone derivative made by cells, which reduces hair re-growth and, ultimately, results in hair loss.
A rich, moisturizing conditioner is great way to help keep hair healthy and strong. The PurePlenty Density Building Conditioner is beautifully thick and emollient. Just as with the Exfoliating Shampoo, the addition of pea sprout bioactives aids in amplifying hair density with the goal of decreasing the amount of hair in the telogen phase of the growth cycle and increasing the amount in the anagen phase (refer back to All About Hair post for more information about the life cycle of hair). I find that this conditioner is also quite volumizing, which gives the hair a thicker appearance with great body and movement.
Finally, the PurePlenty Nourishing Scalp and Strand Serum is a concentrated infusion of nutrients that help promote follicle health. The inclusion of caffeine really stimulates the roots of the hair to trigger growth. It is applied with a convenient dropper straight to the scalp and then worked through the rest of the hair to give those roots a serious boost!
Application
Intelligent Nutrients provides detailed instructions, as well as a video detailing how to use the PurePlenty regimen. For the Exfoliating Shampoo, once my hair wet, I use the applicator tip to apply a bit of product evenly over my scalp. I then massage it all over my head and leave it on for a minute or two before rinsing. I then work the Density Building Conditioner into the ends of my hair and gently work up toward the roots. Applying from the bottom up really helps prevent the hair from being weighed down. After about five minutes, I rinse thoroughly. Once I've towel dried my hair, I then apply one dropper filled with the Nourishing Scalp and Strand Serum to different sections of my scalp and massage it over my head to make sure that its evenly distributed. I also like to apply this serum at night too.

Not to mention, the ingredients are nourishing and effective, and the overall quality of each product is exceptional!
