Here are some tips to help you achieve a stunning monochrome style:
- For a wearable look that incorporates a bold color, focus the purest form of the color in one area of the face (eyes, cheeks, or lips). You can then use more neutral products that have the color that you selected as an undertone. For example, try a flash of electric blue eyeliner with cool toned, blueish-pink blush and lipstick.
- If your powder blush is safe to use near the eyes, try using it as an eyeshadow to carry the same color throughout your look. Then go back in with neutral eyeshadows to define and highlight. The right cream blush can be used as an eyeshadow and a lip color. That's right! A beautiful monochrome look with just one product!
- It is easy to become washed out when trying to achieve a nude monochrome face. Selecting neutral colors that contrast your skin’s undertone will bring your look to life! For instance, if you have a warm undertone to your skin, try using a cool neutral, such as mauve. For those of you with cool undertones, go for warm, golden neutrals.
- Mix up your finishes to create interest. Experiment with combining metallics, mattes, and satins to create drama and depth.
- Don’t feel like you have to take this trend too literally. Monochrome makeup should be fun! 2 out of 3 monochrome looks can be gorgeous! Incorporating a colorful pop of blush and a vibrant lip color, with no eyeshadow can be incredibly flattering. Dramatic eyes and cheeks, but a clear gloss on the lips can also look stunning!
